Houses in the first phase of Surrey Downs were built in 1952-1954.  Homes were designed by the architectural firm Mithun & Nesland. The subdivision and its mid-century modern design is an example of 1950s residential architecture and many remain to this day.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Originally the area was cherry and hazelnut farms but cleared for one of the first sub-divisions in Bellevue. With the addition of Bellevue High School in 1960, the Hearthstone plats were added.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
